“The medical device industry fundamentally has to do with diagnostic, therapeutic, or monitoring instrumentation that is used in the hospital in offices of doctors. So, it is distinguished from the biotech industry which is essentially drugs. There are a lot of good opportunities in the medical device industry as there are in many other industries. However, in our particular industry, there are some characteristics that can be attractive to some people. Number one, it’s a very stable industry. People continue to need healthcare and healthcare continues to develop. It is not a ‘boom and bust’ type of activity (unlike the) Internet. It’s also a very rewarding industry from the personal touch perspective. While it is obviously business, there is an added satisfaction when you get testimonial letters from somebody saying, ‘thank you for inventing that machine because it saved my daughter’s life’.
